Hello! I’m Nicky Anderton, the artist behind NJ Art Creations, and I’d like to share with you my journey so far and tell you how this website came about.
Back to school…
Rewinding back to school days, art class was always my favourite (no big surprise there!). I took my GCSEs and scored highly, so followed up with A-levels and watercolour classes, leading to a college diploma and finally a university degree where I chose a textile design and surface decoration course. Here I was able to explore so many new techniques and spread my creative wings. Fresh out of university in London and trying to find a job along the lines of my studies was pretty stressful so I opted for some freelance textile design work, which was fun – working to set briefs and knowing that my designs were being taken around the world to show to potential buyers.
On the move…
Soon after, I found myself moving around all over the country for my husband’s work so all arty fun had to stop for a while, especially after starting a family and settling down in Yorkshire where my story began and where my roots are strong. Fast forward several years and I cannot contain my need to be creative and put pencil, pen or paintbrush to paper again!
Addicted to art…
I’ve been busy making tons of artwork over the last few years – I literally can’t stop! The feeling that I get when painting is highly motivating and I feel so relaxed and refreshed when I’m in my studio. I absolutely love doing commissions for people and combining their ideas with my own to come up with something extra special. The ideas that form are kind of exploding out of me as I see inspiration everywhere I look. I am very passionate about what I do and put all of myself into each work. Unfortunately, the house seems to be getting smaller and it seems crazy to just keep storing artwork in my cupboards that nobody ever sees. So that brings us here…

One of a kind…
I am very proud to share with you a selection of my artwork. All of my works are unique and original (one-offs). I hope you enjoy browsing the collections and feel inspired. If you are looking for a piece of artwork to have in your home, then please visit the available to buy section, or if you would like something personal and bespoke painted, please do get in touch.
